What makes cloze tests different?
Cloze tests are not pure vocabulary questions. They test whether a word fits grammar, tone and sentence logic. A familiar word can still be wrong if it breaks the sentence structure. Review should therefore ask why the chosen word fits the passage.
How should options be compared?
Compare options by part of speech, meaning and collocation. If the blank needs a verb, noun options should disappear quickly. If two words have similar meanings, check which one normally pairs with the surrounding words. This prevents guessing based only on familiarity.
What should a student revise?
After a mock, collect repeated grammar clues and common collocations rather than copying the whole passage. If errors come from tone, read editorials slowly. If errors come from grammar, revise sentence structure. If errors come from vocabulary, use spaced repetition.
